Default Nu Finish Scratch Doctor

I saw the commercial on TV the other day and thought I would try it. Its described as being able to repair scratches, swirl marks and Haze. I thought I would try it because there are a few light scratches on my car from the previous owner. Overall? Not really impressed.

I never took any before or after pictures. There were a few scratches that were covered up, but I woul say 90% of the time not much a of a noticeable difference. I only did my passenger side, and will probably do the drivers side eventually. When I do, ill try to photograph it but I don't think it will be visible.

Has anyone else tried this product or other similar products?

do you apply it with a buffer or a rag? I used it on the trunk of the mark two and it worked pretty good for me but I also wet sanded it along with buffing and rubbing compound THEN used that crap and it worked..

try buffing and polishing compounds?

It only really repairs the clear coat. Your scratches are probably to the paint. My gf's car was bumped into in a parking lot so we bought the scratch doctor and it worked amazing. Her bumper was scratched and there was even paint from the other car on it and it came out like new.

I just wiped it on. Applying force as a rubbed it in, then wiped it off with a dry rag, then again with a damp towel. I am not wet sanding or buffing my car... I am not risking burning through my paint.

I understand that there isn't going to be some kind of black magic wonder scratch fixer, I was just wondering how well it works. Some spots I figured it wouldn't do anything, and it did and vice versa.

These products never really work great alone, with a buffer you would see a difference.

Scratch doctor is essentially a "gritty" paste/wax that is supposed to cut down the existing scratch and smooth out the clear. unfortunately your arm doesn't work well with this product because 60 strokes per minute doesnt even compare to 4,000 rpm.

There are 3 options you have,

If the scratches are through the clear the panel must be painted and re cleared.

if the scratches are IN the clear, wetsand and buff.. I use 2000 grit for light / medium scratches. I never go coarser then 1500. when wet sanding always stop, dry the area and take note of the "flatness" of the clear, most cars will have slight orange peel which helps because as the orange peel goes away you know your taking away material, this usually indicates how much more you can sand off. Clear coat will appear white on the paper, if you see color on the paper you've most likely burned through. finish using rubbing compound and polish.

if they are minor scratches like those from snow scrapers (the softer side) then rubbing compound, polish and a buffer make light work of those.

who waxes only half of a car? if you dont have time to wax the whole thing then why even bother starting.

ive used this product and it works great with a buffer 3500-4000rpm like teddy said.

Its not a wax. I only used it on the scratched spots.

well thats good to know, I have a few soft scratches from tree branches and what not dragging across the hood, side etc. I always thought it was bullshit once they brought out the laser in the infomercials. but I might have to give it a try.
